Which tattoo idea is better?
I’m intending on getting a tattoo in 2011 before I go back to school. I’m torn between two tattoos.
My first idea is the leo sign. Not too large, maybe the size of a dollar bill folded in half. The design will be like this: http://www.bodycandy.com/cgi-bin/item/TA…
My second idea would be to get a quote “‘Often the test of courage is not to die but to live” However I will be getting it in latin if I choose this one so that it is not as long: (“Saepe animi test non vivere mori.”)
Which one would probably be a better idea for my first tattoo? location spots? pricing wise which one would be cheaper? I want to be a teacher so I would rather have it in a smart location where I can hide it if needed. My pain tolerance is average I believe. Please help me! Thank you!
If you do choose to go with the Latin one, do NOT use what you have.
Saepe animi test non vivere mori. – The word ‘test’ showing up in the so-called Latin should give you a clue that the translation might be a bit flaky. There are a very few words in Latin that are the same as English words – ‘test’ is not one of them.
Obrussa animi saepe non mori sed vivere (est). – the ‘est (is)’ would typically be omitted in Latin, but it’s not incorrect to include it.
