anyone that has tattoos – can you answer this question please?
I really want a tattoo – when i say i want a tattoo, i actually want a half sleeve on my left arm. I want a flowery design (like flowers and vines etc) in black and grey. I have wanted it since i was 15 and i am now 18. The problem is that my mum and dad do not approve of tattoos at all – they look down their nose at people who have them . My best friend has five and my parents hate me hanging out with her. Its not a form of rebellion at all honestly – i just think its amazing that you can get tattoos (i have been watching a lot of LA ink, Miami Ink and London Ink). My mum thinks that if you get a tattoo something is missing from your life and she thinks that you will get over it fast.
Any suggestions as to how i could get around this issue? I live at home atm and am moving out at the start of next year.

I’m kind of in the same situation as you. I still live with my parents, but I’m 19. I have 6 tattoos and they only found out about one. My parents are super strict, but they got over it. (They don’t know about the other 5.)
You can either get it done and just wear sleeved shirts all the time while you’re around them. Since I don’t know how often you are around them, I guess that would affect it. And, it would also depend on how suspicious they’d get of you if you’re always wearing sleeves around them.
You should just get a super small part of it done. Maybe not even a quarter of it. Maybe get one flower or something. That way it’s small and it’s not so huge so that you can tell them that you’re going to keep it that way. Then, when you move out you can get the rest of it done. Simple.
I mean, really. It’s YOUR body in the end. You do whatever you want to do REGARDLESS of who you live with. Yeah, they’re your parents and sure you’ve got to respect their wishes… but, it’s not like you’re hurting them. It’s just not their cup of tea. So.
If you really want it that bad, either just get a super small part of it done and hide it as much as you can. Or, wait until you move out and then get all of it done. There’s really nothing you can do.
