What things could I use that I like to make up a unique tattoo design? I’m pretty girly and love animals and the color pink. I was thinking about a pink seal (does that sound weird?) or something.
I also might get one saying L.C. and maybe like some memorial thing, for my deceased step-mom Laurie and deceased grandfather Craig.

To create a unique tattoo just combine all aspects that you like. A pink seal sounds cool but maybe you could further that idea with more than one seal, or have maybe a sunset of pinks, oranges, etc, in the background that helps to define your love of pink.
sounds like you are already on the track of making your own tattoo. what you can do is gather together pictures of animals and things you like, make sure there are artistic elements of each pic you like and go to a good tattoo parlor and the artist will draw out some sketches merging the pictures for you. you can pic one of those, or have them modify it. just work with the artist, you don’t have to draw it yourself. I was thinking of going down to LA to visit LA Ink to get mine done, you know the TV show. make sure you get a good artist.
I come up with my own all the time and also design for my friends. Just get ideas and inspirations. You can also work with the tattoo artist, since they know what will look good as a tat.
How do you come up with your own unique design?
Uhmm… think about it… for a while. It will come to you.
And if you’re not sure, don’t get one!
edit: To Samsinite… the shop that’s on LA ink is EXTREMELY overpriced and not worth the money. You could get work that’s just as good for a fraction of the price. If you’re going to travel to LA, may I suggest the place I go?

If you go to a good tattoo shop an artist should be able to help you develop some ideas. Just make sure your honest and don’t just pick whatever they give you. They will draw out ideas for you based on what you tell them, but you can always do a google search to get started and get ideas, then take something into the shop and they will develop it more for you.
