What makes people so obsessed?
Why do people become obsessed with celebrities to the point they will defend a celebrity’s poor actions, call other people ‘haters’ for not having the same level of admiration, say that other people are jealous of that celebrity’s success, get a tattoo of that celebrity’s name and/or say that a celebrity is their husband/wife?
I’ve seen fans of a celebrity argue with other people online that they respect a celebrity for ‘getting money’ or ‘getting money and bitches(women). They’ll even goes as far as to say that a person’s life must be less than stellar simply because they don’t admire the life of another celebrity.
Why? What is going on?
Well, same reason preteen girls obsess over bieber and efron. These people are insecure..they can create a fantasy relationship or obsession with celebrities because the celebrities don’t know them, they never will, so in reality they are safe; they cant hurt or abandon the “obsessies” because the celebrities were never part of their real life anyway. And bc of magazines and tv they feel they know every detail about these celebrities lives (which a logical person can see most.of it is fake and just for image) so they feel a personal connection.
